FAIRFAX, VA- The Johns Hopkins track and field teams started off their weekend with their men and women competing at the Patriot Games in the first of two days at George Mason. The Blue Jays men's team dazzled in the 5K event with a couple other strong performances for both teams in other events.

Record Setting 5K
Â
In 2020, Jared Pangallozzi set the program record in the 5K, running a 14:33.63. Friday night, not only one or two, but three different JHU runners surpassed that mark to set a new top three in school history in the 5K run.
Gavin McElhennon led the trio for the Blue Jays, coming in with an impressive 14:19.12 to finish second among the field. McElhennon's time currently ranks second in the country in the event. Next in the group was freshman
Emmaunel Leblond, who now holds the fastest time by a freshman in program history. Leblond ran a 14:19.12, which is good enough for sixth fastest in the country. Last but certainly not least was Charlie Teeter who came in with a time of 14:28.38. His national ranking comes in right behind Leblond in seventh place in the country.

Kadiri Wins the Women's Pentathlon
Â
Victoria Kadiri totaled 3,470 points in the women's pentathlon to win the competition. Kadiri ran the best time in the 60-meter hurdles, posting a 9.22. Kadiri would not give up her lead the rest of the competition, as she added first place finishes in the long jump and shot put to help lead her to the win. Her 3470-point total places her second in the country among division three athletes in the pentathlon. That mark is a PR for Kadiri and the second highest all-time in program history.
Â
Other Notes
Â
James Reilly competed in the men's heptathlon and amassed 2,490 points in the event to finish in second. Reilly came away at the top of the field in the shot-put tallying a distance of 10.96m.
Â
In the women's 5K race,
Molly Kuzma ran the best time of her collegiate career, finishing in second place with a time of 17:38.42.
Stephanie Brown also competed and came in fourth place with her best time of the season so far at 18:01.88.
