BALTIMORE, MD – The third-ranked Johns Hopkins field hockey team scored twice in a three-minute span en route to a 3-0 win over visiting Dickinson in Centennial Conference action Wednesday afternoon. The Blue Jays improve to 15-1 overall and 9-0 in the CC, while the Red Devils fall to 7-8 overall and 5-4 in the conference.
 
Hopkins secured a top-two seed and a first-round bye in next week's Centennial Conference Tournament with the win.
 
The Blue Jays got on the board with just 75 seconds remaining in the second quarter as they capitalized on a penalty corner. After back-to-back saves by Taylor Schlein, senior Mikayla Schoff collected the rebound and fired home a shot inside the right post.
 
Hopkins then doubled its lead just two minutes into the third quarter when the Blue Jays were awarded a penalty stroke. Junior Emily Amsden the beat Schlein to the left post on the stroke and it was 2-0 Hopkins. The Blue Jays pushed their lead to three with 3:17 to play. Senior Siena Urbanski dribbled into the right side of the circle before crossing the ball to sophomore Grace Waldeck, who shot at the left post. Schlein made the initial save but Waldeck bounced on the rebound and tapped it in.
 
Hopkins had a 17-3 advantage in shots and a 9-3 edge in corners. Sophomore Phoebe Williams and senior Alexis Loder split time in the cage, with Loder making one save in the shutout. Schlein finished with 10 saves for the Red Devils.
 
Hopkins closes out the regular season on Saturday, October 28 when Franklin & Marshall visits Homewood Field. The Centennial Conference contest is scheduled for a 12:00 pm start. The winner will earn the top seed in the conference tournament.
