BALTIMORE, MD – Junior
Kristin Cornish grabbed a win in the 500 Free to lead the Johns Hopkins women's swim team on day one of the Thomas Murphy Invitational. JHU is the lone Division III team at the meet which includes host Loyola, Towson and UMBC.
Hopkins opened the evening session with a fourth-place finish in the 200 Medley Relay. Freshman

Elizabeth Cohen swam a 1:45.15, just one-hundredth of a second behind Towson.
Cornish then beat the field in the 500 Free as she clocked in at 4:55.48 to win by nearly two seconds. Her time is an NCAA B time and nearly four seconds faster than her prelim time. Freshman
Julia Tuinman took eighth in the A Final as she touched in 5:03.17. Junior
Taylor Rohovit finished in fourth place in the B Final with a time of 5:09.34.
In the 200 IM, sophomore
Rachel Davis placed seventh in the A Final with a time of 2:08.88. Sophomore
Katherine Chelus finished in third place in the B Final with a time of 2:11.90. Freshman
Carly White placed fifth as she clocked in at 2:12.39.
Liu finished in ninth place in A Final of the 50 Free with a time of 24.27. In the B Final, Cohen and Lan went one-two. Cohen touched in 24.11, beating Lan by just three-hundredths of a second. Sophomore
Claire Han won the C Final with a time of 24.32.
Hopkins wrapped up the night with a third-place finish and an NCAA B time in the 800 Free Relay. Sophomore

The Thomas Murphy Invitational continues on Saturday morning at 10:00 am with the prelims of the 100 Fly.
