TOWSON, MD – The Johns Hopkins women's cross country put together a commanding performance at the Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference Mid-Atlantic Championships Friday afternoon, claiming 12 of the top 13 spots — including each of the first eight — en route to a convincing first-place finish.
First to cross the line for the Jays were
Katherine Forsberg and
Isabelle Nobili, who finished in first and second with times of 22:54.24 and 23:32.72 respectively. The pair ran in the top two spots from start to finish en route to their highest placements on the year.
Cameron Coletti and
Aisling Callahan were next to complete the race, finishing just five seconds apart in third and fourth with times of 23:36.21 and 23:41.88.
Kaitlin Ness rounded out the top five — her highest finish of the year — crossing the line in 24:03.66.
Continuing the streak of consecutive Hopkins runners were
Jamie Stelnik (6
th – 24:19.12),
Eleni Alvarez (7
th - 24:41.66) and
Lily Sheth (8
th – 24:46.97) to give the Jays the race's top eight runners. Finishing closely behind to conclude a successful day for Hopkins were
Emma Kothari,
Natalie Boquist and
Diana Valentini, who finished the afternoon in 10
th, 11
th and 12
th.
With the sweep the Blue Jays took home first at just 15 points, while McDaniel (58) and Goucher (67) completed Friday's podium.
Next up for Hopkins is the NCAA Mid-Atlantic Regionals Saturday, Nov. 11, with the women's race set to begin at 12 p.m.
