Johns Hopkins Earns Hard Fought Win Over Haverford, 55-49

Parisi's Season High 25 Points Powers JHU Past the Fords

HAVERFORD, PA- The Johns Hopkins women's basketball team went into Haverford looking to continue to hold their two-game lead in the Centennial Conference. In a game that was tight the entire way, the Blue Jays made the big plays down the stretch on both ends of the floor and outscored the Fords 14-10 in the fourth quarter to come away with their tenth straight win, 55-48.

Olivia Parisi was the difference for Johns Hopkins in the victory as she scored a season-high 25 points and pulled down nine rebounds. Parisi made the most of her attempts on the offensive end, shooting 6-for-11 from the field and was perfect from the foul line going 13-for-13, which came one shy of tying a program record for free throws made in a game.

The Blue Jays took a slim two-point lead into the fourth quarter after Gia Flamini made a baseline jumper in the final seconds of the third for Haverford. Johns Hopkins completely stymied the Fords offense during the fourth quarter as Haverford only scored four points in the first nine minutes of the quarter. JHU scored 10 points during that stretch, all of which came from Parisi. The eight-point cushion allowed the Blue Jays to hang on the win and earn the season sweep over Haverford.

After allowing their opponents to go 6-for-14 in the first quarter, Johns Hopkins settled in defensively to help guide them to the win. The Blue Jays held the Fords to just 9-for-38 from the floor the rest of the game (23.6%) and forced 13 turnovers which turned into nine points JHU at the other end.

Johns Hopkins had a lot of their offensive production come from inside the painted area as 26 of their points from their 19 field goals came from in the paint.

After Parisi's 25, the Blue Jays next leading scorer was Greta Miller who finished with seven points and grabbed eight rebounds. Johns Hopkins had ten different players find the bottom of the net in the contest. JHU is now 16-4 (13-2) and continues to hold the lead in the Centennial. The Blue Jays have now officially clinched a spot in the Centennial Conference tournament and are poised to clinch a first-round bye.

Leading the way for Haverford was Ally Landau, who was impressive with 23 points, and Kayla Robinson who finished with ten. The Fords now sit at 14-7 (11-5) and sit in fourth place in the conference.

Next up for Johns Hopkins is a trip to Lancaster, PA to take on Franklin and Marshall for the second time this season on Tuesday, February 7 (6 pm).
