GREENSBORO, NC – Johns Hopkins sophomore
Kristin Cornish kicked off the 2023 NCAA Swimming Championship in winning fashion for the Blue Jays. She won the 500 Free and Hopkins picked up 23.5 points to sit in 16
th place.
After finishing in second place a year ago, Cornish went wire-to-wire in the first event of the championship. She touched the wall in 4:48.38, more than four seconds off her prelim time and just one-hundredth of a second off her own school record. Cornish is the first swimmer in program history to win an NCAA title in the 500 Free. In addition, she is just the second swimmer to win multiple individual NCAA titles, joining Ana

Kristen Alicea-Jorgensen finished in a tie for fifth place in the consolation final of the 50 Free. She finished in 23.47, knocking two-hundredths of a second off her prelim swim. This is her fourth straight All-America honor in the 50 Free.
Day two of the NCAA championships begin with the prelim of the 200 Free Relay at 10:00 am. The finals are scheduled to begin at 6:00 pm.
