How it Happened

  • The Ephs put the Blue Jays in a hole early in the ballgame, taking a 6-0 lead in the top of the first. All six runs came in with two outs after the first two batters of the inning were retired. The Ephs had eight straight batters come up to the plate at one point.
  • JHU came with a response in the bottom of the first inning, also scoring all of their runs with two outs. Charlie Monterrosa doubled in Dillon Souvignier and Isaiah Winikur to left center field to make it 6-2. A couple of batters later, Jimmy Stevens socked one to the outfield with the bases loaded to score two more and pull JHU within 2. Things became tied up once again in the bottom of the second when Matthew Cooper belted his sixth home run of the season out to left field to knot things up at six.
  • After Williams scored one in the top of the third to take the lead back, JHU punched back at the Ephs with a six run third inning to take its first lead of the game. The burst was capped of by a two RBI triple from Shawn Steuerer to center field to make it 12-7.
  • The Ephs got the score back within two after scoring three runs between the fourth and fifth innings.
  • The Blue Jays, up by three, put the nail in the coffin by hanging crocked numbers in both the seventh and eighth inning. In the seventh, Steuerer smacked a ball into center field the took Williams a long time to bring into the infield. Steuerer showed off his wheels as he rounded third and came into score standing for an inside the park homer. Winikur caught the home run bug as well, crush a 2-2 pitch over the left field fence to make it a 19-11 lead for JHU.
  • Jasper Carmichael set the side down in order in the ninth to finish off the win and get the Blue Jays to 16-2 on the season.
