How it Happened

  • The Blue Jays struck first in the bottom of the second inning, after two scoreless innings from Bear Awadzi. Caleb Cyr stepped up with runners at the corners and hit a sharp single back up the middle to bring in Charlie Monterrosa. A couple batters later, Isaiah Winikur hit a high fly ball that was hauled in by the center fielder, but Alex Shane tagged up from third and came in to score to give JHU a two run lead.
  • Alex Shane brought in a run in the bottom of the next inning when he rolled a grounder over to first base that allowed Dillon Souvignier to score from third. Cyr added another run to the total in the bottom of the fourth, lacing a solo home run over the left field fence, which was his fourth homer of the season, to give the Blue Jays a two run lead.
  • Keuka cut their deficit in half in the top of the fifth when Matt Vaccaro launched a two run homer to right field that snuck over the wall to get the Wolves back in the game.
  • After the Blue Jays added a run on a walk in the sixth inning, Dylan Whitney pushed the lead back up to four. Monterrosa also picked up an RBI in the bottom of the eighth to answer the run scored by the Wolves in the top of the inning. Monterrosa stung a ball into the left center field gap to score Shawn Steuerer all the way from first to make it a 7-3 game.
  • Matt Savedoff closed things out, pitching four one run innings, while striking out three batters, to finish off a 8-1 trip for JHU in Florida.
