Kadiri Finishes Eighth in Heptathlon to Earn All-America Honors

Blue Jays Tied for Sixth in Team Standings After Day Two of NCAA Championships

PITTSFORD, NY - Johns Hopkins junior Victoria Kadiri grabbed her second All-America finish at the 2023 NCAA Division III Women's Track & Field Championships with an eighth-place finish in the Heptathlon on Friday,  Kadiri, who won the long jump on day one of the championships, totaled a personal-best 4,889 points to earn her eighth-place finish.

Kadiri's effort in the Heptathlon earned one team point for the Blue Jays, who are tied for sixth in the overall team standings with one day remaining in the championships.  Johns Hopkins is tied with Wartburg and Nebraska Wesleyan with 11 points; Loras holds the top spot in the standings with 22 points.

Kadiri sat in ninth place after day of one's four events as she rang up 2,918 points in the 100-meter hurdles, high jump, shot put and 200-meter dash.  She then opened day two with her signature event (long jump) and easily topped the field of 21 with a jump of 6.17-meters to grab 902 points.  She then grabbed 404 points in the javelin and 665 points in the 800-meter run to lock down her All-America finish.

Sophomore Lauren Phillips eased her way into Saturday's finals in the 400-meter dash as she clocked in at 55.49 seconds to place second in her heat and fifth overall among the 21 entries.  The top finisher in each of the three preliminary heats along with the next five best times earned a spot in Saturday's championship final.

In addition to Phillips, the Blue Jays will have two other competitors on Saturday.  Kadiri will look for her second straight national title in the triple jump, while Sara Stephenson will run in the final of the 3,000-meter Steelechase.
