Johns Hopkins Blanks Stevenson on Coleman Goal

OWINGS MILLS, MD – Sophomore Scotty Coleman scored what turned out to be the game's only goal in the 74th minute as the Johns Hopkins men's soccer team beat Stevenson in non-conference action Wednesday night. The Blue Jays improve to 4-1-3 while the Mustangs fall to 1-2-4.

After peppering the Mustangs' goal, the Blue Jays broke through midway through the second half. Graduate student Max Edelstein dribbled into the Stevenson box and centered the ball to Coleman. He dribbled around, eluding several defenders before ripping a right-footed shot past the outstretched hands of Nolan Olson-Warwick.

Hopkins outshot Stevenson, 24-5, and had an 8-2 advantage in corners. Graduate student JP Furman finished with four saves to earn his second shutout of the season. Olson-Warwick tallied 10 saves in the loss for the Mustangs.

Hopkins returns to action on Saturday, September 23 at Ursinus. The Centennial Conference contest is set for a 3:00 pm start.

Notes: This was the Mustangs' first home loss since October 25, 2022 • Hopkins is now 6-0-1 all-time against Stevenson, with all six wins coming by shutout.
