BALTIMORE, MD – Kyle Harrison, who captained the 2005 Johns Hopkins men's lacrosse team to a perfect 16-0 record and the program's eighth NCAA Championship, has been elected to the National Lacrosse Hall of Fame it was announced today.  Harrison becomes the 73rd person inducted into the Hall of Fame with a tie to Johns Hopkins and the first since Charlie Coker was inducted in 2019.

In addition to Harrison, the 2023 inductees include Lynn Bowers, John Danowski, Katie Chrest Erbe, Laura Hebert, Bob Shaw, Kyle Sweeney, and Devon Wills.

One of the most dynamic and recognizable players in the storied history of the Blue Jay men's lacrosse program, Harrison led the Blue Jays to one of the great four-year runs in school history from 2002-05 and from the beginning to the end, he  made his mark at Homewood.  Harrison opened his career with a two-goal effort in a stunning upset of defending national champion Princeton in 2002.  Four years later, he ended his career with a two-goal effort in a win against Duke in the national championship game.  In between, he became the face of Johns Hopkins lacrosse.

Harrison led the Blue Jays to a 55-6 record, four trips to the final four, a national runner-up finish in 2003 and the 2005 NCAA Championship.  The NCAA title for the 2005 team, which capped the perfect 16-0 season, was the first for Johns Hopkins since 1987.  The Blue Jays were the top seed in the NCAA Tournament in each of his four seasons and spent 30 weeks ranked number one in the nation from 2002-05.  In fact, in the 40 national rankings released during that time, Johns Hopkins was never lower than fourth and ranked first or second 36 of the 40 weeks.

A three-time All-American, including a first team selection as a junior and senior, Harrison twice earned the McLaughlin Award as the National Midfielder of the Year and was the 2005 recipient of the Tewaaraton and Enners Awards as the nation's top player.  More than 15 years after graduating, he remains the only Johns Hopkins player to win the Tewaaraton.

Harrison finished his career with 81 goals and 45 assists and also ranks as one of the top faceoff specialists in school history as he won 328-of-537 (.611).  He remains one of just 11 players in school history with more than 300 career ground balls (304) and still ranks third in career faceoff winning percentage.

After graduating from Johns Hopkins, Harrison went on to a lengthy professional and international playing career.  He was a member of the United States National Team in 2006 and 2014, was the number one overall selection by the New Jersey Pride in the 2005 MLL Draft and concluded his 17-year professional playing career with the PLL's Redwoods Lacrosse Club in 2021.  Between the MLL and the PLL, Harrison was a nine-time all-star and helped lead the Ohio Machine to the 2017 MLL Championship.

The newest members of the Nnational Lacrosse Hall of Fame will be officially inducted during a dinner ceremony in Baltimore on January 6, 2024. Additional details to be announced in the near future.
