Blue Jays Top Bryn Mawr, 3-0, to Improve to 8-1-1 on the Year

Sullivan, Tapp, Camken Score for Hopkins

BALTIMORE, MD – The eighth-ranked Johns Hopkins women's soccer team got goals from three different players – including the first Blue Jay goals for a pair of players – and outshot visiting Bryn Mawr 22-1 to fuel a 3-0 Centennial Conference victory over the Owls at Homewood Field Saturday afternoon.  The Blue Jays improve to 8-1-1 overall and 4-0 in the Centennial with their 28th consecutive win in the series.  Bryn Mawr slips to 3-5-1 overall and 0-4 in the Centennial with the loss.

The Blue Jays would get all the offense they would need in the eighth minute when senior co-captain Sophia Stone floated a cross to the back post and junior Katie Sullivan headed it into an open net to give Hopkins an early 1-0 lead.

Despite dominating possession, it took more than 29 minutes for the Blue Jays to strike again and this time it was graduate transfer Charlotte Tapp doing the honors.  After Rylie Mutton's deep offering was deflected off the crossbar by Bryn Mawr goalie Natalia Chorzepa, Tapp collected the rebound and blew her first Johns Hopkins goal into the net to make it 2-0.

Tapp had a hand in Hopkins' third and final goal in the 77th minute as she fired a shot from Chorzepa's left that the Bryn Mawr goalie was able to get a hand on but didn't control and Jessica Camken poked home her first Johns Hopkins goal on the rebound to close out the scoring.

The Blue Jays held the 22-1 advantage in shots and took all eight corner kicks in the game.  Eva Breiland and Allyson Shick both played 45 minutes in goal for Johns Hopkins; neither was force to make a save in the combined shutout.  Chorzepa posted eight saves for the Owls.

Johns Hopkins will return to action on Wednesday, October 4 when the Blue Jays welcome Washington College to Homewood Field (4 pm) for another Centennial Conference game.
