LANCASTER, PA – Johns Hopkins volleyball's
Simone Adam and
Brooklyn Pater swept the Centennial Conference's Offensive and Defensive Player of the week honors for the second time this season, as released by the conference this morning. Adam is now a three-time winner of the Offensive Player of the Week award in 2024 while Pater has earned the Defensive Player of the Week twice.
Adam was the catalyst once again for a Blue Jays attack that averaged 13.40 kills per set while hitting .301 in a 3-0 weekend at the Hopkins Invitational. The junior opened her weekend tallying eight kills without committing an error in a sweep of Eastern before adding a team-high 16 kills in a four-set win over Cortland. Adam ended the Invitational with 12 kills in just two sets to pair with a season-high three blocks in another sweep of Mary Washington.
The Menlo Park, CA native's weekend averages of 4.00 kills per set at a .425 clip brought her season averages up to 3.64 kills per set at a hitting percentage of .378, which lead and rank second in the Centennial Conference respectively.
Pater was equally as impressive on the defensive end, etching her name in the record books by breaking the program record for block assists in a three-set match that had stood since 1996. The senior did not take long to make history, registering 11 block assists to shatter the previous record of eight in a sweep of Eastern Friday night. Pater followed up that performance by adding another six blocks in a four-set win over Cortland before appearing in just one set against Mary Washington. The senior averaged an otherworldly 2.13 blocks per set on the weekend, with her year-long average of 1.23 leading the Centennial and ranking 11
th nationally.
Hopkins is back in action Saturday, Oct. 5 to host Ursinus and York in a weekend tri-match, with first serve of the weekend's opening match set for noon.
