Konkol Named Centennial Defensive Player of the Week

Senior Fueled JHU's 13-6 Win over F&M

LANCASTER, PA – Johns Hopkins senior defensive lineman Matthew Konkol has been namd the Centennial Conference Defensive Player of the Week for his efforts in Saturday's 13-6 win over Franklin & Marshall.  This is the first time Konkol has been honored by the Centennial and his selection marks the second consecutive week that a Johns Hopkins player has earned a player of the week nod from the Centennial.

Konkol posted a career-high eight tackles, including 2.5 for losses and two sacks, forced a fumble and had one pass breakup in the victory against the Diplomats.  His 2.5 tackles for loss are also a career-high and the two sacks match his personal best.

Through six games, Konkol has 21 tackles, 6.0 tackles for loss, 3.0 sacks, one forced fumble, one fumble recovery and three pass breakups.  He leads the team in tackles and is tied for the team lead in sacks.

With his effort against the Diplomats, Konkol boosted his career totals to 70 tackles, 19.5 tackles for loss and 12.5 sacks. 

Johns Hopkins (5-1, 2-0 Centennial) will return to action on Saturday, October 26 when the Blue Jays travel to Ursinus (6-0, 2-0 Centennial).
