BALTIMORE, MD –
Melissa Er won the 200 Free to lead Johns Hopkins on day two of the Loyola H20unds Invitational. The Blue Jays posted four top three-finishes and three NCAA B cuts en route to picking up 727 points. Hopkins sits in second place with 1,408 total points, while host Loyola is in first place.
Hopkins opened the night with sixth and seventh place finishes in the A Final of the 100 Fly.
Kennedy Lee clocked in at 56.48 to edge out
Elizabeth Cohen for sixth place by just two-hundredths of a second.
Kate Petitt took second in the B Final with a swim of 56.76.
Taylor Rohovit then took third in the A Final as she touched in 4:29.63, missing a B cut by just 0.23 seconds.
Rachel Davis finished in fourth (4:29.91),
Nyah Stahl placed fifth (4:30.75) and
Sarah Fox finished in ninth (4:42.93).
Er beat the field in the A Final of the 200 Free as she touched the wall in 1:51.41, shaving nearly 1.2 seconds off her prelim swim. Her time is a season best and an NCAA B cut.
Julia Tuinman took third place as she finished in 1:54.14.
Alex Watson finished in 1:55.38 for sixth and
Meg Susil placed eighth in 1:56.21.
Ayden Min took the top spot in the B Final with her time of 1:55.66.
Michelle Liu led the Blue Jays with a fourth-place finish in the 100 Breast in 1:04.94.
Katherine Chelus placed eighth (1:07.32) and
Alia Basler placed ninth (1:09.31).
Jaya Veerapaneni then turned in a runner-up finish in the A Final of the 100 Back. Her time of 56.50 is an NCAA B cut. Lee followed in fourth place with a time of 56.65 and
Anna Miler placed eighth in 58.23.
The Blue Jays finished the night with a second-place finish and an NCAA B cut in the 200 Free Relay. Cohen, Veerapaneni, Miler and Liu combined for a time of 1:34.38.
The H20unds Invitational concludes on Sunday, November 24. The first event of the day is the prelims of the 200 Back. The evening session will begin with the 400 Medley Relay.
