th-ranked Johns Hopkins men's tennis team swept the singles matches to come-from-behind to beat 27
th-ranked Pomona-Pitzer Saturday morning. The Blue Jays improve to 2-0 on the season while the Sage Hens falls to 1-4.
Pomona took the first point of the match when Sam English and Owen Kelley beat graduate students
George Jiang and
Hanyu Liu, 8-4, at number two doubles. Senior
Daniel Ardila and junior
Marco Azar then beat Eshaan Lumba and Matthew Feng, 8-6, at one to tie the match. Neil Chulani and Ethan Lee put the Sage Hens back on top with an 8-6 win over sophomores
Pranav Gadiraju and
Allen Gong at three.
Liu drew the Blue Jays level with a 6-2, 6-3 win over English at number four singles. Freshman
Rajendra Chakor gave Hopkins its first lead when he beat Rohun Krishnan 6-3, 6-1 at three. Gong followed with a 6-2, 6-1 win over Lee at one and then Ardila clinched the win with a 6-4, 6-3 victory at two over Feng. Azar pushed Hopkins lead to 6-2 when he defeated John Wehrle 6-1, 6-2 at six. Sophomore
Joshua Kim closed out the match with a 6-1, 6-4 win at five over Lumba.
Hopkins is right back in action on Sunday, February 25 at 26
th-ranked NC Wesleyan.
