NICHOLASVILLE, KY – Top-ranked Claremont-Mudd-Scripps beat Johns Hopkins in the semifinals at the 2024 ITA National Indoor Championship Saturday. The Blue Jays slip to 7-2 overall while the Athenas remain unbeaten at 6-0.
CMS won at first and third doubles to earn the doubles' point and take a 1-0 lead into singles. Nikolina Batoshvili and Alisha Chulani won 6-0 at number one doubles over graduate student

Sophia Kim. Seventh-ranked Audrey Yoon and Katherine Wurster then secured the doubles' point for the Athenas with a 6-2 win over sophomore

Kamila Wong prevented the doubles sweep however when they beat sixth-ranked Ella Brissett and Lindsay Eisenman, 6-3, at two.

Lia Melvin grabbed the first singles' point and tied the match at one when she beat Brissett 6-4, 6-3 at number five. The Athenas then won the final five singles matches, with each match going to three sets, to punch its ticket to the finals. Wurster put the Athenas back on top when she beat freshman
Aubrey Zhou 6-1, 2-6, 6-2 at six. Eisenman, ranked second in the nation, won 2-6, 6-2, 6-0 at one over graduate student

Chulani then clinched the win with a 6-7 (4), 6-3, 6-1 win at three of Xiao. Sena Selby pushed the Athenas' lead to 5-1 when she won a close match 6-4, 5-7, 6-4 at four. Yoon, ranked ninth in the nation, closed out the match with a 6-7 (3), 7-5, 6-1 win over Chang at two.
Hopkins will now take on third-ranked Pomona-Pitzer in the third-place match on Sunday at 10:30 am.
