Johns Hopkins Bests #19 Washington & Lee, 8-1

LEXINGTON, VA – The Johns Hopkins men's tennis team jumped out to a 3-0 lead and went on to beat host and 19th-ranked Washington & Lee, 8-1, Saturday afternoon. The Blue Jays improve to 4-0 on the season while the Generals fall to 6-2.
 
Sophomore Allen Gong and freshman Joshua Kim took the first point of the match with an 8-2 win over Connor Coleman and James Kurani at number three doubles. Graduate student Hanyu Liu and sophomore Pranav Gadiraju then beat Josh Rassin and Heys Parker, 8-5, at two. Senior Daniel Ardila and junior Marco Azar completed the doubles' sweep with an 8-7 (7) win at one over Evan Erb and Will Kistler.
 
Freshman Chakor Rajendra pushed the Blue Jays' lead to 4-0 when he beat Kurani 6-3, 6-2 at number three singles. Ardila then clinched the win with a 6-4, 6-3 win over Kistler at number two. Liu followed with a three-set win 6-2, 4-6, 6-4 at four over Parker. Erb, ranked eighth in the nation, took the lone point for the Generals with a 4-6, 6-3, 1-0 (7) at one. Kim grabbed a two-set win (6-4, 6-2) over Coleman at five. Gadiraju then came from behind to beat Rider Yeaman 1-6, 6-1, 1-0 (10) at six.
 
Hopkins is back in action on Sunday, March 10 as the Blue Jays take on 10th-ranked Denison at 11:00 am in Lexington.
