Johns Hopkins Posts Third Straight CC Shutout, Tops Dickinson

BALTIMORE, MD – Johns Hopkins posted its third straight Centennial Conference shutout as the 23rd-ranked Blue Jays beat the visiting Dickinson Red Devils, 9-0, Tuesday afternoon. Hopkins improves to 9-5 overall and 4-1 in the conference while the Red Devils fall to 8-6 and 1-4 in the CC.
 
Hopkins lost just nine total games as the Blue Jays cruised to the win. Pranav Gadiraju and Allen Gong took an 8-2 win at number one doubles against DJ Finnell and Levi Veleanu. Daniel Ardila and Marco Azar turned in an 8-1 win over Romano De Caprio and Will Lewis at two. Hanyu Liu and Arslan Orashev did the same in their win at three versus Drew Allen and Eddy Chow.
 
Ardila, Chakor Rajendra and Gadiraju needed the minimum 12 games in their victories at numbers one, two and six singles, respectively. Azar dropped just one game in the first set as he defeated Chow at five singles. Liu grabbed a 6-2, 6-0 win over Finnell at three and Gong won 6-1, 6-1 at four over Allen.
 
Hopkins returns to action on Friday, April 19 at Haverford. The Centennial Conference match is scheduled for a 3:30 pm start.
 
Notes: Liu is now just four wins shy of 100 for his career, as he boasts 49 career singles wins and 47 career doubles wins • Ardila is tied for 22nd in JHU history with 38 career singles wins • Head coach Brendan Kincaid is now tied for fifth in coaching victories at Johns Hopkins with 47 • For his career, Kincaid now boasts 148 wins.
