CHESTERTOWN, MD – Seventh-ranked Johns Hopkins shut out host Washington College, 9-0, Saturday morning in Centennial Conference action. The Blue Jays win their fifth straight match as they improve to 13-4 overall and 7-0 in the conference. The Shorewomen fall to 4-10 on the season and 3-3 in the Centennial.
 
The Blue Jays garnered an early 3-0 lead as the Shorewomen forfeited at three doubles and five and six singles. 
Ashley Chang and 
Lia Melvin needed just eight games to push Hopkins' lead to 4-0 as they blanked Soleil Namunyola and Eva Kading at one doubles. 
Zoe Hsieh and 
Bea Manjon then beat Piper Sartison and Isabella Sorhegui, 8-2, at two doubles to clinch the victory.
 
With the match decided, the remaining four singles' matches were played in eight-game pro sets. Melvin and Hsieh played the minimum eight games in their matches at two and three singles respectively, as Hopkins went up 7-0. 
Catharina Ausfahl followed with an 8-1 win over Sorhegui at four and 
Mary Beth Hurley closed out the match when she beat Kading, 8-2, at one.
 
Hopkins takes on 24
th-ranked Mary Washington this afternoon. Hopkins then returns to action on Tuesday, April 23 against Gettysburg. The Centennial Conference match is scheduled for a 4:00 pm start.
