Johns Hopkins Battles Muhlenberg to 0-0 Draw

ALLENTOWN, PA – In a rematch of last year's Centennial Conference title team, Johns Hopkins and host Muhlenberg battled to a scoreless draw Friday night. The Blue Jays are now 4-2-1 overall and 0-0-1 (CC) while the Mules are 4-2-2 and 0-0-1 (CC).

Hopkins got the first good scoring chance in just the 11th minute, but Aidan Dunphy's attempt was stopped by Ben Mulford. Muhlenberg answered with three shots in an eight-minute span midway through the half, but Loucas Costeas turned away all three to keep the game scoreless. Jason Pan had a good look on goal from the middle of the box in the 42nd minute, but a Mule defender headed it away.

Scotty Coleman made a great run onto a chip over the defense by Ian Whamond, but a kick-save by Mulford kept the game scoreless. Muhlenberg had a chance to grab a late win off a corner kick with under two minutes to play, but the JHU defense stood strong and cleared the ball out of danger.

Costeas and Mulford finished with three saves apiece to earn shutouts for their squads. Muhlenberg had a 10-7 advantage in shots and a 3-1 edge in corners.

Hopkins returns to action on Wednesday, September 25 as the Blue Jays take on number one ranked Mary Washington. The non-conference contest is scheduled for a 7:00 pm start at Homewood Field.
