Late Kenyon Goal Stuns Johns Hopkins

BALTIMORE, MD – Visiting Kenyon scored the game-winning goal with just eight seconds remaining as the 19th-ranked Owls beat host and 24th-ranked Johns Hopkins, 2-1, Friday night at Homewood Field. The Blue Jays slip to 2-1-0 on the season while the Owls remain unbeaten at 3-0-0.

Kenyon struck first, scoring in just the sixth minute. Andrew Adams forced a turnover deep in Hopkins' end and from 12 yards out, tucked a low shot just inside the right post. The lead was short-lived as the Blue Jays answered in the 19th minute. Will Sangpachatanaruk collected a short pass from Francis Meyer and then sent the ball down the sideline to Logan Falzarano. He took one touch and then crossed the ball into the box, where Scotty Coleman flicked the ball past Jack Pedreschi from close range.

After the two first-half scores, this one looked like it was going to end in a draw. But with time winding down in the second half, Kenyon was able to keep the ball in the Hopkins' end. As the clock ticked under 10 seconds, Eamon Dujakovich passed the ball out wide where Justin Buchwalter ran on to and fired a low shot just inside the bottom left corner.

Hopkins outshot Kenyon, 13-7, while corners were even at four apiece.

Hopkins returns to action on Sunday, September 8 as the Blue Jays host the Rowan Profs. The non-conference game is scheduled for a 1:00 pm start at Homewood Field.
