Johns Hopkins Wins 10; Bests Washington & Lee

LEXINGTON, VA – In its first action sine in more than a month, Johns Hopkins won 10 of 14 events to beat host Washington & Lee, 132-104, Saturday afternoon.
 
The Blue Jays kicked things off with first and third place finishes in the 200 Medley Relay. Jaya Veerapaneni, Michelle Liu, Kennedy Lee and Elizabeth Cohen led the way with a time of 1:46.85. Kimberly Lan, Katherine Chelus, Kate Petitt and Anna Miler then placed third in 1:50.22.
 
Taylor Rohovit grabbed the first individual win of the day as she touched in 10:48.20 to win the 1000 Free by more than 12 seconds. Julia Tuinman took third place as she finished in 11:05.42. Alex Watson made it three straight wins to open the meet as she grabbed the top spot in the 200 Free (1:55.56). Ayden Min followed in second place with a swim of 1:57.75.
 
Lee and Er then went one-two in the 100 Back, with Lee earning the win in 58.89 and Er following in 59.28. Liu took second place in the 100 Breast as she clocked in at 1:07.24. Nyah Stahl then placed third in the 200 Fly in 2:11.77 while Petitt took fourth in 2:12.20. Cohen got the Blue Jays back in the win column with a swim of 24.49, beating W&L's Myla Rice by just seven-hundredths of a second.
 
Veerapaneni led the field in the 100 Free as she touched in 53.25. Miler took third place in 54.86, missing out on second by just five-hundredths of a second. Lee earned her second individual win of the afternoon as she swam a 2:06.36 in the 200 Back. Rohovit finished in third place in 2:13.09. Chelus took second place in the 200 Breast in 2:28.05.
 
Hopkins the swept the top three spots in the 500 Free, led by Min in 5:16.57. Meg Susil followed in second (5:17.45) and Sarah Fox in third (5:19.92). Er finished in second in the 100 Fly as she touched in 58.88 and was followed closely by Cohen in third (59.20).
 
Liu and Veerapaneni then raced to first and second place finishes in the 200 IM. Liu grabbed the win in 2:10.12 and Veerapaneni finished in 2:11.74. The Blue Jays wrapped up the day with first, third and fourth place finishes in the 200 Free Relay. Cohen, Lan, Watson and Miler took the win in 1:38.42. Alia Basler, Rohovit, Stahl and Fox placed third (1:40.81), just 0.12 seconds ahead of Carly White, Hannah Fu, Min and Er.
 
Hopkins is right back in the pool on Tuesday, January 14 as the Blue Jays host the Gettysburg Bullets. The meet is scheduled for a 1:00 pm start.
