BALTIMORE, MD – Johns Hopkins men's basketball coach
Ryan Cain announced a pair of changes to the Blue Jay coaching staff today.
Jack Barrett, who is entering his third season at Hopkins, has been promoted to Associate Head Coach. In addition,
Randolf Thurman joins the staff as assistant coach.
"I am proud to welcome Randolf Thurman to our coaching staff," said Cain. "Randolf has a passion for recruiting and developing student-athletes and I am excited to work with him. I am also thrilled to name Jack Barrett as the Associate Head Coach. In the last two seasons, Jack has been instrumental in recruiting, preparation, organization, and is fully committed to the development of our student-athletes on and off the court."
Since coming to Homewood prior to the 2023-24 season, Barrett has helped the Blue Jays to a 37-17 record, including 25-6 in the Centennial Conference. Hopkins has played in the conference title game in each of his two seasons. Barrett has coached six all-conference selections, the Centennial Conference Defensive Player of the Year and Rookie of the Year, as well as a pair of 1,000-point scorers.
Thurman comes to Baltimore from Johnson & Wales (Providence), where he spent the last three seasons on Wildcats' staff. He coached three All-Great Northeast Athletic Conference selections and two 1,000-point scorers during his time in Providence. Thurman is also the head coach of BNL Elite AAU in Providence. He is a 2019 graduate of Dean College with a bachelor's degree in sports management and marketing.
Johns Hopkins is set to open the 2025-26 season on Friday, November 7 versus Marymount. Tip-off at Goldfarb Gym is set for 7:00 pm.
