A Look Back
« Johns Hopkins moved to 5-0 on the season with a thrilling 28-27 win against then #15/#17 Carnegie Mellon last Saturday.
« Ursinus had no trouble bumping its record to 4-1 on the year as the Bears topped McDaniel, 52-0, at home last Saturday.
The Facts
« This is the 140th season of Johns Hopkins football. JHU first fielded a team in 1882.
« Johns Hopkins enters this week's game with an all-time record of 613-492-57 (.552).
« Overall, JHU owns 17 Centennial Conference titles (all 17 won since 2002) and has qualified for the NCAA Playoffs 13 times (all 13 since 2005).
Poll Position
« Johns Hopkins is ranked #3 by the AFCA and D3football.com in this week's national polls. The Blue Jays have held the number three spot in the AFCA and D3football.com rankings in each of the seven polls issued thus far in 2025.
« The number three rankings from the AFCA and D3football.com are tied for the highest ever for Johns Hopkins. Dating back to last season's final poll, the Blue Jays have been ranked third by each organization in each of the last eight sets of national rankings.
« Johns Hopkins is appearing in the AFCA Top-25 for the 149th time in 264 polls since the poll debuted in 1999. Additionally, the Blue Jays are in the D3football.com Top-25 for the 168th time in 278 polls since D3football launched its poll in 2003.
« Ursinus does not appear in this week's D3football.com Poll, but the Bears are receiving votes in the AFCA Poll.
5-0, Again
« Johns Hopkins is 5-0 for the fourth time in five seasons (2021, 2022, 2023, 2025) and the 13th time since 2002.
« Prior to starting the 2002 season with five consecutive victories, Johns Hopkins hadn't started 5-0 in a season since 1931.
Toughest Schedule To-Date
« Not including their games against Johns Hopkins, the Blue Jays' five opponents to-date are currently a combined 19-3 (.864) on the year. That ranks as the highest opponent winning percentage in the nation through games of October 11.
« The Blue Jays' 10 regular-season opponents are currently a combined 32-15 (.681) (again, not including games played against JHU). That ranks as the 10th highest overall opponent winning percentage counting all teams on the schedule.
Oktoberfest
« The calendar flipped to October with the recent game against Dickinson and the month has been good to the Blue Jays of late.
« Including the 55-10 win against the Red Devils and last week's 28-27 win against Carnegie Mellon, the Blue Jays have won 47 of their last 50 games in the month of October dating back to 2010.
« The Blue Jays had been just 10-8 in their previous 18 games in the month of October before jump-starting the current 49-game run with a 49-24 win at Susquehanna (10-23-2010).
« During their October run dating back to 2010, the Jays have lost just once at home.
One-Score Wonders
« Johns Hopkins improved to 7-0 under head coach Dan Wodicka in games decided by seven points or less with last week's victory. The Blue Jays were 6-0 last season in such games.
Another Big Rally
« Johns Hopkins trailed Carnegie Mellon by scores of 17-0 and 24-7 before rallying for the 28-27 victory last Saturday.
« This marks the second time under Dan Wodicka that the Blue Jays have come from 17 points down to win a game as they also did it in his first game as the head coach (at Ithaca in 2024).
« For the record, prior to 2024, JHU hadn't come from 17 points down to win a game since 1999.
Hard to Believe, But True
« Johns Hopkins played game number 1,162 in its all-time history with last week's game against Carnegie Mellon. Amazingly, that was the first time Johns Hopkins has won a game 28-27.
« The only other game in school history that has ended 28-27 came on September 14, 2019, but it was Susquehanna edging the Blue Jays by that score that day.

His exploits on kickoff returns were part of an overall performance that saw him roll up 296 all-purpose yards as he added a career-high nine receptions for a personal-best 146 yards and one touchdown. The 296 all-purpose yards rank as the ninth-best single-game total in school history and also rank 14th in the nation in Division III this season.
Not His First Time
« Senior Carter Hogg intercepted a Carnegie Mellon pass with 2:32 remaining in the fourth quarter to help seal last week's win.
« The INT was the second of Hogg's career in the closing minutes of a game that hung in the balance as his INT in the end zone with 18 seconds remaining locked up a 27-20 win against Rowan early in the 2024 season.
« Three of Hogg's four career interceptions have come in the fourth quarter.
5K/1K
« Senior Bay Harvey fueled the 28-27 win against Carnegie Mellon as he threw for 245 yards and one touchdown and rushed for 59 yards and two scores, including the one that gave the Jays the 28-27 lead late in the fourth quarter.
« In the process, he joined David Tammaro (2016-19) as the only players in school history with more than 5,000 yards passing (5,731) and 1,000 yards rushing (1,022).
« With his two rushing TDs, he is also now just three shy of tying Tammaro's school record for rushing touchdowns by a quarterback (20).
