Third-Ranked Blue Jays Place Third at Conn. College; Second at Rowan

BALTIMORE, MD – The third-ranked Johns Hopkins women's cross country team turned in another strong performance on Saturday, competing at both the Connecticut College Invitational in Waterford, CT, and the Rowan Border Battle in Gloucester, NJ.

In a stacked 33-team Blue Race at Connecticut College that featured 16 nationally-ranked teams, the Blue Jays claimed third with 113 points, finishing behind only the meet champion, second-ranked Williams (73 pts) and fifth-ranked MIT (97 pts).

Meanwhile, in New Jersey, Hopkins finished second overall with 127 points, placing behind only Eighth-ranked Carnegie Mellon (32 pts).

Sophomore Carter Brotherton delivered another standout performance for Hopkins, placing fourth overall in a field of 271 runners. She crossed the line in 20:57.8, finishing just over three seconds ahead of the fifth-place finisher. Prior to this year, only five runners in the history of the women's 6K at this meet had broken the 21-minute barrier—but the top four accomplished the feat today. Brotherton's dominant showing led a strong Blue Jay squad, with four runners finishing in the top 50.

Freshman Mia Kotler turned in an impressive race of her own, finishing 10th overall with a personal-best time of 21:08.1—just over 10 seconds behind Brotherton. She was followed by senior Adriana Catalano (21st | 21.22.9), sophomore Storrie Kulynych-Irvin (35th | 21.37.2) and junior Natalie Boquist (45th | 21:54.2).

At Rowan, senior Cooper Brotherton led the charge for Hopkins, placing 11th overall out of 299 runners. Brotherton recorded a 21:53.7, pacing a group of four Blue Jays who finished among the top 40.

Senior Aisling Callahan recorded her best finish of the season, placing 26th with a time of 22:24.1. Junior Amelia Giles followed in 31st, running a personal-best 22:33.1, while senior Emma Kothari was close behind in 32nd, also setting a personal best with a time of 22:35.7.

Freshman Evangeline Dunckley rounded out the scoring for Hopkins, placing 37th with a personal-best 22:38.6.

The Blue Jays return to action on Saturday, November 1, at the Centennial Conference Championships in Gettysburg, PA, where they'll look to defend their title and capture a 17th-straight team championship.
