LANCASTER, PA – Johns Hopkins junior Cole Crotty has been named the Centennial Conference Offensive Player of the Week for his efforts in the Blue Jays' 52-21 victory against Ursinus on Saturday. This is the second time this season he has earned the award and he becomes the first player in the league this season to earn the award the twice. He previously was honored after the Blue Jays topped John Carroll earlier this season.
Crotty led the way in the win against the Bears as he totaled nine receptions for 228 yards and two touchdowns. He opened the game with a 76-yard touchdown catch on the first play of the game and later added a four-yard scoring reception. His 228 yards are a personal-best, the fourth-best total in program history, the 13th-best total in Centennial history and the 10th-highest total for a Division III receiver this season.
Though six games, Crotty leads the team in receiving with 42 receptions for 744 yards and six touchdowns. He leads the Centennial Conference in receptions and receiving yards and is tied for third in touchdown receptions, while he ranks fifth in the nation in receiving yards and receiving yards per game (124.0).
Crotty's effort against Ursinus boosted his career totals to 182 receptions for 2,590 yards and 20 touchdowns. He ranks 11th in school history in receptions, ninth in receiving yards and 11th in touchdown receptions.
Johns Hopkins (6-0, 3-0 Centennial) will return to action on Saturday, October 25 when the Blue Jays travel to Gettysburg (0-6, 0-3 Centennial) to take on the Bullets (1 pm).
