Johns Hopkins Shuts Out #23 Ursinus, 2-0, On The Road

COLLEGEVILLE, PA – Johns Hopkins scored early in the first and third quarters to grab a 2-0 win over host and 23rd-ranked Ursinus Saturday afternoon. The Blue Jays win their eighth straight and improve to 9-1 overall and 3-0 in the Centennial Conference, while the Bears slip to 4-6 on the season and 0-3 in the CC.

Hopkins jumped on Ursinus early as the Blue Jays cashed in on their first penalty corner of the day. Sophia Albano collected a rebound off an Adriana Palladinetti save and lifted inside the left post just 2:54 into the game.

The score would remain 1-0 for nearly 35 minutes. Megan Chang intercepted an Ursinus clearing pass deep in the Bears' end and found Albano in the circle. She passed it back to Chang, who redirected the ball on cage where Grace Waldeck tipped it in seven minutes into the third quarter.

Aubrey Kilgore and Jessica Lapidus combined for the shutout, making two and one saves, respectively. Palladinetti finished with five saves in the loss for the Bears. Hopkins finished with a 14-8 advantage in shots and 8-6 edge in corners.

Hopkins returns to action on Wednesday, October 8 as the Blue Jays visit the Swarthmore Garnet. The Centennial Conference contest is scheduled for a 7:00 pm start.

Notes: Waldeck is now tied for 19th in program history with 59 career points and tied for 16th with 25 goals.
