NEW ORLEANS, LA – Following a sixth overall individual performance at the Paul Short Invitational, Johns Hopkins senior
Emmanuel Leblond has earned national recognition, being named the M-F Athletic National Athlete of the Week. He is the only male athlete in program history to receive the national honor during the cross country season, and it's the second time this season Leblond has been recognized.
Competing in a highly competitive 40-team Gold Race at the Paul Short Run, Leblond led the Blue Jays to a 15
th-place finish with 466 points, finishing behind several nationally ranked Division I programs, including No. 11 Syracuse, No. 28 Georgetown and No. 29 Harvard.
The senior paced the entire Division III contingent, placing sixth overall in a field of 354 runners. He ran a personal-best 8k time of 23:23.3, anchoring a pack of four Blue Jays who finished among the top 150.
Among the Division III contingent, the Blue Jays finished ahead of third-ranked SUNY Geneseo and 10
th-ranked RPI.
Hopkins returns to the course on Saturday, October 18, in Gloucester, NJ and New London, CT where they'll compete in the Rowan Border Battle and the Connecticut College Invitational.
