LANCASTER, PA – For the second time this season, Johns Hopkins Cross Country has swept the Centennial Conference's weekly honors, with senior
Emmanuel Leblond and sophomore
Carter Brotherton earning Athlete of the Week accolades. This marks Leblond's second conference recognition of the season and the first recognition for Brotherton as the Blue Jays reach the midpoint of their fall schedule.
Both runners stood out in the highly competitive Gold Races at the Paul Short Run, which featured 40 teams and deep Division I talent.
Leblond led the Blue Jays to a 15
th-place finish with 466 points, finishing behind several nationally ranked programs, including No. 11 Syracuse, No. 28 Georgetown and No. 29 Harvard. The senior was the top Division III finisher in the race, placing sixth overall in a field of 354 runners. He posted a personal-best time of 23:23.3 in the 8K, leading a flock of Blue Jays that placed four runners in the top 150.
Among the Division III contingent, the Blue Jays finished ahead of third-ranked SUNY Geneseo and 10
th-ranked RPI.
Brotherton led the Blue Jays to a 20
th overall finish with 602 points, finishing behind several nationally ranked programs, including No. 15 Penn State and No. 20 Georgetown. The sophomore crossed the line as the second-fastest Division III runner in the race, placing 44
th overall out of 352 runners. She clocked a personal-best 20:46.6 in the 6K, anchoring a pack of four Blue Jays who finished among the top 150.
Hopkins also placed two spots ahead of top-ranked MIT, who finished 22
nd overall with 652 points.
The Blue Jays return to action on Saturday, October 18, with teams set to compete at both the Rowan Border Battle in Gloucester, NJ, and the Connecticut College Invitational in New London, CT.
