BALTIMORE, MD – Visiting Salisbury scored a pair of second half goals to come back for a 2-1 win over Johns Hopkins Wednesday night in non-conference action. The Blue Jays fall to 3-5-5 on the season while the Sea Gulls improve to 7-4-2.
Hopkins got on the board early, scoring off a corner kick in the 18
th minute.
Connor Wilkes sent the ball into the box, where
Nate Kim headed it down.
Juan Bruzzone settled the ball and then poked it past Nate Jones for his first career goal. Late in the first half,
John Ghanem made a diving save on David Peters to keep the Blue Jays on top.
Salisbury drew level in the 65
th minute off the foot of Michelangelo Parravano. Noah Blankenshop centered the ball to Gavin Miller, who flicked it on to Parravano. He took one touch and fired a low shot into the bottom left corner from about 25 yards out. Ghanem then made another save on Peters in the 73
rd minute to keep the teams tied at one.
The Sea Gulls then took the lead with just 5:47 to play. Dale Gordon dribbled up the left sideline before firing a shot towards the back post. Ghanem got a hand on it, but the ball carried right to David Brunetti, who was able to knock it home.
Ghanem finished with five saves for the Blue Jays while Jones had three for the Sea Gulls. Salisbury outshot Hopkins, 16-7, and had a 5-2 advantage in corners.
Hopkins returns to Centennial Conference play on Saturday as the Blue Jays visit the Washington College Shoremen. Game time is scheduled for 7:00 pm.
