BALTIMORE, MD – The second-ranked Johns Hopkins field hockey team punched its ticket to the 2025 NCAA Quarterfinal for the seventh straight season, cruising to a 6-0 shutout of Worcester Polytechnic Institute on Saturday morning at Homewood Field. Goalkeepers
Aubrey Kilgore and
Jessica Lapidus combined to blank the Engineers as the Blue Jays dominated from start to finish.
Hopkins wasted little time grabbing control, striking just 3:22 into the game.
Zoey Bennett redirected a pass off
Sophia Albano's stick to open the scoring—her early tally ultimately standing as the game-winner. The Blue Jays doubled and then tripled their lead in the second quarter, scoring twice in a span of 2:22.
Deedee Golla tipped in a
Jenna Halpin feed off a penalty corner, and moments later,
Grace Waldeck hammered home a shot set up by
Megan Chang. Both goals marked the 10th of the season for Golla and Waldeck.
The offense kept rolling out of halftime. Four minutes into the third quarter, freshman
Sarah Chilton calmly converted a penalty stroke for her first collegiate goal. Later in the frame,
Sophia Builione collected her own rebound and finished to stretch the advantage to 5-0.
With eight minutes remaining in regulation, freshman
Zoya Iyer capped the scoring by redirecting an
Evie Hamm pass for her first career goal.
Johns Hopkins returns to action on Sunday, November 16, hosting Middlebury in the NCAA Quarterfinal at 1:00 p.m. at Homewood Field.
