LEXINGTON, KY – After securing its ninth consecutive Centennial Conference Championship, the Johns Hopkins volleyball team had several athletes recognized with All-Region honors, the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) announced Wednesday.
Simone Adam highlighted the awards, earning the Regional Player of the Year distinction.
Adam, along with
Helena Swaak, was named to the All-Region First Team, while
Nicole Tuszynski earned Honorable Mention recognition. This marks the third straight year that Hopkins has had three players earn All-Region honors, bringing the Blue Jays' program total to 31.
Adam, who was also named Centennial Conference Player of the Year, becomes the third Regional Player of the Year in program history, joining
Natalie Aston (2019, 2021) as the only Blue Jays to achieve this feat. The senior led the team with 3.61 kills per set and 339 total kills, hitting .323 on the season. She also recorded 24 aces, 266 digs (2.83 per set) and 51 total blocks, including 11 solo. Her First Team selection makes her one of only three Blue Jays to be named to an All-Region Team three times.
Swaak earned her second career First Team selection after a standout senior season. The setter totaled 590 assists, leading the conference, and averaged 5.84 assists per set. She also contributed 188 kills, 38 service aces, 324 digs (3.21 per set) and 56 blocks across 101 sets played.
Tuszynski, in her sophomore year, earned her first career All-Region honor earning Honorable Mention distinction. The team's primary libero, she averaged a team-high 4.13 digs per set and finished with 409 total digs. She also added 112 assists, 23 aces and four kills to her impressive defensive contributions.
Hopkins will continue its postseason journey on Thursday, November 20, when the Blue Jays face Stevenson in the first round of the NCAA Tournament. First serve is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. at Goldfarb Gymnasium.
