Box Score CLAREMONT, CA – Johns Hopkins fell to second-ranked Chicago, 5-2, in the semifinals of the Stag-Hen Invitational Friday afternoon. The Blue Jays slip to 3-5 on the season while the Maroons improve to 13-1.
 
Hopkins picked up the first point of the match with wins at numbers two and three doubles to grab the doubles' point. 
Allen Gong and 
Chakor Rajendra won 6-3 over Emil Grantcharov and Derek Hsieh at two. 
Marco Azar and 
Mukundh Boopathi secured the doubles' point with a 7-5 win at three over Alexander Ekstrand and Michael Choi. Andrei Leonov and Pat Otera grabbed a close 7-5 win over 
Daniel Ardila and 
Dylan Blenkiron at number one.
 
Ekstrand took the first singles' point, beating Rajendra 6-1, 6-2 at number one to even the match at 1-1. Hsieh then won 6-3, 7-5 over 
Zahari Stoimenov at three to put UChicago up 2-1. Michael Choi followed with a 6-1, 6-4 win over Gong at four and it was 3-1.
 
Ajer Sher clinched the win when he pulled out a tight 7-5, 7-6 (7) win at number five. At two, Ardila rallied after dropping his first set, 6-2, to win the second 6-3. He was up 5-3 in the third when Grantcharov retired. Matthew Liew closed out the match with a 6-4, 6-3 win over 
Jason Li at number six.
 
Hopkins wraps up the Stag-Hen Invitational against fourth-ranked Denison on Saturday, March 22. The match is scheduled for a 9:30 am PT start.
