BALTIMORE, MD – Johns Hopkins head women's basketball coach
Rodney Rogan has announced the hiring of
Brooke Swift as the program's new assistant coach.
"We're thrilled to welcome Brooke to our coaching staff," said Rogan. "She brings tremendous energy, a passion for the game and a strong track record of developing student-athletes both on and off the court. Her experience across multiple programs will be a valuable asset as we continue building on our success."
Swift arrives at Homewood with a deep resumé as both a player and coach, having held positions at several NCAA institutions. Most recently, she served as an assistant coach at Austin College (Sherman, TX), a Division III program, where she spent the past two seasons (2023–25). There, she played an integral role in the team's turnaround—helping the 'Roos secure back-to-back nine-win seasons after inheriting a 1-24 squad that had gone winless in conference play the year prior.
"I'm honored to join a program such as Johns Hopkins," said Swift. "Coach Rogan has built something special, and I'm excited to contribute to the continued growth and success of the team."
Before her time at Austin College, Swift spent two seasons (2021–23) as a graduate assistant at Converse University, where she contributed to the rebuilding of the Valkyries' women's basketball program and was involved in all aspects of coaching and player development.
From 2019 to 2021, Swift served as an assistant coach at Colorado College, helping guide the Tigers to their first-ever Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) Championship game appearance. During her tenure, she played a key role in the development of the 2021 SCAC Player of the Year, the 2021 SCAC Newcomer of the Year and three All-Conference honorees.
A 2018 graduate of Southwestern University, Swift began her coaching career at her Alma mater, returning as an assistant coach for the 2018–19 season. She helped develop two All-Conference players during that time.
As a player at Southwestern, Swift was a standout point guard and team captain. She helped lead the Pirates to the 2015 SCAC Championship and a runner-up finish in 2018. Off the court, she excelled academically, earning the Director of Athletics Academic Excellence Award twice and receiving SCAC Academic Honor Roll recognition in back-to-back seasons.
Swift holds a Bachelor's degree in Psychology and English from Southwestern University and a Master of Liberal Arts from Converse University.
She joins a Johns Hopkins program that is coming off a stellar 2024–25 campaign, which ended in the NCAA Tournament's Round of 16 with a hard-fought 52-46 loss to Scranton. The Blue Jays finished the season with a 24-5 overall record and a 13-1 mark in Centennial Conference play.
