Tuszynski Tabbed Centennial Defensive Player of the Week

Second Weekly Conference Honor for the Blue Jays

LANCASTER, PA – Following an undefeated showing at the Wid Guisler Invitational, Johns Hopkins sophomore Nicole Tuszynski was named the Centennial Conference Defensive Player of the Week. This is her first career weekly conference honor and makes her the second Blue Jay of the season to be recognized.

Tuszynski played a key role in helping the Blue Jays go undefeated (3-0) over the weekend, improving their season record to 10-2. The libero was instrumental in the team's massive win over defending national champions and fourth-ranked Juniata, as well as sweeps over Nazareth and Christopher Newport. Over 10 sets, she recorded a .907 reception percentage and totaled 50 digs (5.00 per set).

In the win over Juniata, the sophomore anchored the back row with a match-high 23 digs, including a clutch service ace to seal the victory for Hopkins. She also led all players with 15 digs in the match against Christopher Newport.

Hopkins returns to the court Friday, September 26, as it squares off against Wesleyan in a 7PM nightcap. The Blue Jays will conclude the weekend with matches against Endicott and Tufts at 12PM and 2:30PM, respectively, on Saturday.
