Johns Hopkins Downs Undefeated McDaniel, 3-1

BALTIMORE, MD – Johns Hopkins jumped on host and undefeated McDaniel early and went on to beat the Green Terror, 3-1, in Centennial Conference action. The Blue Jays improve to 3-3-5 overall and 1-0-2 in the conference, while the Green Terror fall to 7-1-1 and 1-1-1 in the league.

The Blue Jays wasted no time in getting on the board. Brendan Listzwan collected a short pass from Giulian Laudisa and then fired a low shot from 25 yards out just inside the left post 50 seconds in. It took nearly 48 minutes, but the Blue Jays doubled their lead early in the second, this time it was Laudisa on the receiving end. A give-and-go with Listzwan sprung Laudisa and he beat Tate Roth to the near post in the 49th minute.

McDaniel answered just over six minutes later to cut the deficit in half. Charlie Olson slipped a pass through to Mike Mevo and he chipped the ball into the goal from a tough angle. It took Hopkins just two minutes and four seconds to push its lead back to two. Listzwan poked the ball forward to Paul Sapilewski at the top of the box and he buried a low shot past Roth from the middle of the box.

Hopkins finished with a 12-7 edge in shots while McDaniel led in corners, 6-4. John Ghanem tallied one save in the win for the Blue Jays and Roth made one for the Green Terror. The three goals are the most allowed by McDaniel since November 2, 2024.

Hopkins returns to action on Saturday as the Blue Jays host the Gettysburg Bullets. The Centennial Conference game is slated for a 6:00 pm start at Homewood Field.
