WASHINGTON, PA – Johns Hopkins poured in a school-record 31 goals as the Blue Jays beat host Washington & Jefferson, 31-11, Saturday afternoon. The Blue Jays improve to 2-0 on the season while the Presidents fall to 0-2.
This one was close early as Hopkins held a slim 5-4 lead after W&J's Hector Santaella scored a five-meter goal.
Andrew Lee then scored to ignite a 7-0 run that bridged the quarter break. Six different Blue Jays scored during the run, bookended by another Lee score and the Blue Jays led 12-4.
Dillon Parker and Santaella combined for three goals in a 3-1 spurt for Washington & Jefferson as the hosts trimmed the deficit to 13-7.
Patrick Rooney kick-started a 6-3 run as the Blue Jays pushed out to a 19-10 lead early in the third.
Hopkins scored the next four before a W&J goal by Topher Mitchell made it 23-11 after three quarters. It was Blue Jays in the fourth as they poured in eight goals to close out the 31-11 win.

Mason Hofmann and
Matthieu Giauque scored four goals each to lead the Blue Jays.
Daniel Palfi dished out a career-high six assists, while
Luke Mendelsohn handed out three helpers. Giauque also grabbed four steals and made five saves in the fourth quarter. Mendelsohn and
Gavin Brooke had four steals apiece and Hopkins totaled 27 as a team – the most since at least 2017.
