GRANVILLE, OH – Host and sixth-ranked Denison scored three goals in the first half en route to a 4-0 win over Johns Hopkins Sunday in non-conference action. The Blue Jays fall to 2-2-0 on the season while the Big Red improve to 4-0-0.
The Big Red jumped on the Blue Jays with three goals in less than two minutes midway through the first half. Dension struck first on a free kick just to the right of the Hopkins' box. Kameron Kist took the kick, sending a low ball into the near side of the box where Jack Rice poked it home at 27:01. Just 67 seconds later, a sliding Julia Bozzolo redirected a cross from Phil Koutsaftis.
Kist completed the three-goal flurry with a right-footed volley just inside the box at 28:58. Henri Heyes pushed the Big Red's lead to four in the 50
th minute when he headed in a Kist corner kick at the back post.
Hopkins returns to action on Wednesday, September 10 at St. Mary's. The non-conference contest is scheduled for a 7:00 pm start.
