NORTHFIELD, MN – The Johns Hopkins men's cross country team split its squad Saturday morning, with the Blue Jays competing at the Running of the Cows, hosted by Carleton College, and the Don Cathcart Invitational, hosted by Salisbury University.
At the Running of the Cows, Hopkins placed second in a field of 35 teams with 123 points, finishing just behind Wartburg, which edged the Blue Jays with 110 points. Meanwhile, two Blue Jays competed at the Don Cathcart Invitational, with both finishing inside the top 25.
In Minnesota, junior
Brady Ott led a trio of Blue Jays who finished inside the top 20. Ott placed fourth overall in a field of 337 runners, clocking in at 24:28.6 and finishing just 23 seconds behind the individual winner.
Caleb Tenney followed with a ninth-place finish in 24:42.6, while
Cedar Nichols-Barnhart rounded out Hopkins' top-20 finishers, placing 16th in 24:53.2.
Freshmen
Elliott Stout and
Connor Fanberg rounded out the scoring five for the Blue Jays. Stout was the fastest freshman in the field, crossing the finish line in 25:07.7 to place 28th overall. Fanberg, the fifth-fastest freshman in the field, finished 67th in 25:25.9.
At Salisbury's 38th annual Don Cathcart Invitational,
Aakash Iyer and
Tate Duensing represented the Blue Jays. Iyer led Hopkins with an eighth-place finish in a field of 73 runners, clocking a 25:20.5. Duensing, the fourth-fastest freshman in the field, placed 22nd overall in 26:43.7.
Johns Hopkins returns to action Saturday, October 17, when the Blue Jays travel to Gettysburg College to compete in the Aubrey Shenk Invitational.
