Hopkins Launches Built for This Campaign to Support Women's Lacrosse Program

Campaign Celebrates 50th Anniversary of Blue Jay Women's Lacrosse

BALTIMORE, MD – Johns Hopkins Associate Vice Provost for Student Affairs and Director of Athletics and Recreation Jennifer S. Baker announced an initiative - the Built for This campaign - to support the Blue Jay women's lacrosse program today. The $500,000 campaign is centered on the celebration of the 50th anniversary of the program and rooted in the long-term establishment of Johns Hopkins as a leader in the sport.

"The Built for This campaign is the cornerstone of our season-long celebration of the 50th anniversary of the Johns Hopkins women's lacrosse program," Baker stated.  "For 50 years, the women who have represented Johns Hopkins have shared an unwavering commitment to do so at the highest level – on the field, in the classroom and in our community.  This initiative will help provide the resources necessary to build on all that has been achieved in these first 50 years and position Johns Hopkins as the standard-bearer in the sport in the ever-changing landscape of collegiate athletics moving forward."

The campaign is designed with a number of key initiatives earmarked that will strengthen the program in all key areas that help define success.  The pillars of investment include dedicated resources for current-use scholarships, NIL support, leadership development, national recruiting, a holistic program for sport performance and well-being, including mental health training and support, and technology advances in the area of sports science and analytics.

In addition, there are a number of opportunities available to support the program through the endowment of the head coach and assistant coaches positions and the naming of spaces utilized throughout the Cordish Lacrosse Center.  Many of these carry a multi-year pledge opportunity for a long-term commitment.

"For 50 years, Hopkins Women's Lacrosse has been built by women who upheld high standards, competed with integrity, and believed deeply in doing so the right way," stated Tim McCormack, who is now in his fourth season as the head coach at Johns Hopkins.  "Our responsibility is to provide a world-class experience and environment where our student-athletes can reach their maximum potential – as competitors, teammates, leaders and people."

The Johns Hopkins women's lacrosse program was launched in 1976 and has competed at the NCAA Division I level since 1999.  The Blue Jays have qualified for the NCAA Tournament 22 times with 13 of those appearances coming at the Division I level.  Johns Hopkins enters the 2026 season just three wins shy of 500 all-time and has produced 137 all-conference selection and 90 All-Americans and 20 former Blue Jays have been inducted into the school's Athletic Hall of Fame.
