The Facts
•  This is the 139th season of Johns Hopkins men's lacrosse.  JHU first fielded a team in 1883.

•  JHU owns 44 national championships with nine NCAA titles, 29 USILA titles and six ILA crowns to its credit.

Poll Position
• Johns Hopkins checks in at number 15 in the KANE Inside Lacrosse Media Poll and number 16 in the USA Lacrosse Poll this week.  JHU was number 17 in the USILA Preseason Poll ... this week's USILA Poll was not available in time to be included in this set of notes.
• Towson was ranked 15th in the USILA Preseason Poll and 17th in this week's KANE Inside Lacrosse Media Poll and 19th in the USA Lacrosse Pol..

Weathering the Changes
•  Prior to moving the season opener against Robert Morris back two days, the last time a Johns Hopkins men's lacrosse game date was moved due to weather was almost 10 years ago to the week.
• The Johns Hopkins-UMBC game, originally scheduled for February 13, 2016, was moved to March 30, 2016 when bitterly cold temperatures and windy conditions forced the movement to the later date.
• After going 10 years without moving a game, the Blue Jays were forced into another change just five days after the Robert Morris game scheduled for Saturday, February 7 at Georgetownwas postponed due to extreme cold in the region.

It's Been a While - The Robert Morris Breakdown

Part I
Hunter Chauvette (6) and Matt Collison (5) became the first Johns Hopkins duo to score five or more goals in a game since March 27, 1999, when Dylan Schlott (5) and Conor Denihan (5) both scored five in a 16-15 win against Virginia.

Part II
• Collison became the first Johns Hopkins midfielder to post a five-goal game since Paul Rabil had six against Syracuse in the 2008 national championship game.

Part III
Dash Lamitie (G), Max Wickersham (A) and Parker Sorenson (D) all started in the win against Robert Morris.  This was the first time Johns Hopkins has started three or more freshmen in a season opener since 2002, when Kyle Barrie (A), Kyle Harrison (M), Peter LeSueur (A) and Chris Watson started in an 8-5 season-opening win against Princeton.

Part VI ... in Three Parts
• Lamitie became the first Johns Hopkins freshman to start a season opener in goal since Jesse Schwartzman got the nod in a 10-9 win against Penn in the 2004 opener.
• Wickersham became the first Johns Hopkins freshman to start a season opener on attack since Brendan Grimes started against Ohio State in the 2021 opener.
• Sorenson became the first Johns Hopkins freshman to start a season opener on defense since Jack Rapine started against Navy in the 2017 opener.

• The two goals Johns Hopkins allowed are the fewest since the Blue Jays topped Mount St. Mary's 17-2 on April 14, 2014.

Part VI

Part VII
Charlie Iler (4) and Chuck Rawson (4) became the first Blue Jay tandem with four or more assists in a game since Jacob Angelus (5) and Russell Melendez (4) both had 4+ in a win against Bryant in the first round of the 2023 NCAA Tournament.

Strength of Schedule
• Johns Hopkins' 13 regular season opponents compiled a 128-82 (.610) record in 2025 with its eight non-conference opponents rolling up a 74-54 (.578) record.

More Strength

• Last season, in 56 quarters played, the Blue Jays scored at least two goals in 45 of the 56 quarters, three or more goals in 25 of the 56 and four or more goals in 12 quarters.

That's Early

• The earliest game in program history came in 2025, when the Blue Jays played at Denver on February 1.
• Last week's game against Robert Morris was originally scheduled for January 31, but moved to February 2 due to extreme temperatures forecast in the Baltimore area on January 31.  If the game had not been rescheduled for February 2, the January 31 date would have been the earliest date the Blue Jays played in program history.
