AUBURNDALE, FL – The No. 2/2 Johns Hopkins baseball team erupted for 11 unanswered runs to defeat Babson, 12-3, in game one of a doubleheader Tuesday, before completing the sweep with a 6-2 win over SUNY Brockport in the nightcap. With the pair of victories, the Blue Jays improve to 13-3 on the season.
Game 1
Following a loss to Endicott on Monday, the Blue Jays struck first in the top of the second inning.
Damian Brown delivered an RBI groundout to give Hopkins an early 1-0 lead.
Babson answered in the bottom half, stringing together a single and a double to plate two runs and take a 2-1 lead. The Beavers added another run later in the inning on a single through the left side to extend their advantage to 3-1.
The Hopkins offense struggled to generate momentum until the sixth inning, when
Alex Shane drove in a run to cut the deficit to 3-2. Still searching for a spark, the Blue Jays found it in their next at-bat. With two runners on and a new pitcher on the mound,
William Jaun jumped on the first pitch he saw and tucked it just inside the right-field foul pole for a three-run homer, giving Hopkins a 5-3 lead.
The Blue Jays put the game out of reach in the ninth, scoring seven runs to break it open.
Campbell Framke started the rally with a bunt that forced an error and brought home a run. With the bases loaded,
Jacob Harris was hit by a pitch to force in another, and
Luke Baker followed with a long RBI single. Jaun stayed hot at the plate, driving in two more runs, while
Clay Hartje and Brown each added RBIs to cap the scoring at 12-3.
Michael Yousef (3-0) took over in relief in the fifth and was dominant, retiring 15 of the 17 batters he faced. He allowed just one hit and one walk while striking out five over 5.0 shutout innings.

Alex Shane each delivered RBI singles to extend the lead to 3-0.
Starting pitcher
Charles Monterrosa worked efficiently through the Brockport lineup, tossing 4.2 scoreless innings. He allowed just three hits and three walks while striking out two before exiting in the fifth.
Hopkins broke the game open in the fourth, adding three runs to take a 6-0 lead.
Jacob Harris led off with a single and later scored to make it 4-0. Shane followed with an RBI double and eventually came around to score on a wild pitch, capping the inning.
Brockport pushed across two runs in the sixth, but the deficit proved too much to overcome.
Dylan Zucker closed the door for the Blue Jays, earning his second save of the season with a dominant three-inning performance, allowing just one hit.
Johns Hopkins returns to action Wednesday, March 18, in the final game of its spring break trip against the University of Chicago at Lake Myrtle Park. First pitch is scheduled for 10:00 a.m.
