Downey Earns Fifth B1G Midfielder of the Week Honor

ROSEMONT, IL – For the fifth time this season, and second straight week, Lacey Downey has been named the Big Ten Midfielder of the Week. She led Johns Hopkins to a 13-6 win over sixth-ranked Michigan on Sunday afternoon.
 
Downey totaled seven points (5g, 2a), four caused turnovers, three ground balls and two draws against the Wolverines. Her five goals came on seven shots, including going 1-of-1 on free position. When Michigan cut the lead to four early in the fourth quarter, Downey scored twice in a 41-second span to push the lead back to six with six minutes to play.
 
Downey leads the country in points (76) and assists (35) by a midfielder. In addition, her 76 points this season are the most by a midfielder in Johns Hopkins history, while her 35 assists are tied for the most. She has also tallied 41 goals, 54 ground balls, 36 caused turnovers and 32 draw controls.
 
Hopkins wraps up the regular season on Thursday, April 16 at 19th-ranked Penn State. Opening draw at Panzer Stadium is slated for 6:00 pm.
