WINCHESTER, VA – Johns Hopkins scored a pair of second-half goals en route to a 3-2 win at Shenandoah Tuesday night in both teams' season opener. The Blue Jays open the season with a win for the third straight season.
Hopkins needed less than 10 minutes to open the scoring for the 2026 season.
Brendan Listzwan did the honors when he got a step on a pair of Hornet defenders and then slotted a right-footed shot past Aidan King-Miller. Dylan Johnson answered for the home team in the 52
nd minute when he volleyed a 50-50 ball into the left side of the goal.
The Blue Jays retook the lead seven minutes and four seconds later.
Connor Wilkes sent the ball into the box and
Jacob Sardinha was there to flick it home. In the 80
th minute, freshman
Gabriel Pirayou added what turned out to be a much-needed insurance goal when he fired a low shot past King-Miller from the top right corner of the box. Shenandoah wasn't done, however. Jack Mudd headed hone a free kick from Jarbin Rodriguz in the 90
th minute to account for the 3-2 final.
Ryan Aiken earned the win for the Blue Jays with six saves, while King-Miller finished without a stop.
Hopkins returns to action on Friday, September 4 as the Blue Jays host the Vassar Brewers in their home opener. Game time is slated for 7:00 pm at Homewood Field.
