CARLISLE, PA – Eighth-ranked Johns Hopkins rallied from an early deficit to beat host Dickinson, 5-1, Wednesday afternoon in Centennial Conference action. The Blue Jays improve to 6-3 overall and 2-0 in the conference, while the Red Devils fall to 3-6 (0-1).
Dickinson struck first, scoring just 2:46 into the game off an early penalty corner. Gillian Rosenstock inserted the corner to Erin Liggio at the top of the circle. She sent the ball right back to Rosenstock on the left post and she one-timed it in to give the Red Devils the early lead. Hopkins answered less than seven minute later when
Ava Zimmerman slotted home a short pass from
Evie Hamm.
The Blue Jays took the lead, for good as it turned out, with 1:11 to play in the opening quarter.
Deedee Golla stole the ball from a Red Devil defender on the goal line and buried it to put JHU up 2-1. After a scoreless second quarter, Hopkins needed less than five minutes in the third to extend its lead. Zimmerman poked home a loose ball at the right post for her second of the afternoon.
Hopkins then struck twice in less than three minutes late in the fourth to account for the 5-1 final. Zimmerman sent a nice through ball to
Kaitlin Coward in the circle. She settled the pass and the buried it inside the near post and it was 4-1 Blue Jays. With just four seconds on the clock,

Hopkins finished with a 22-6 advantage in shots and 7-5 edge in corners.
Aubrey Kilgore and
Jessica Lapidus split time in the cage, with Lapidus notching three saves. Arden Cook tallied six saves in the loss for the Red Devils.
Hopkins returns to action on Saturday, October 3 as the Blue Jays host the Ursinus Bears in their third annual Kenzie Opdyke Youth Day. The Centennial Conference contest is scheduled for a 1:00 pm start at Homewood Field.
