GRANTHAM, PA – Host and 22
nd-ranked Messiah rode a second-quarter goal to a 1-0 win over second-ranked Johns Hopkins Saturday afternoon. The Blue Jays slip to 1-1 on the season while the Falcons improve to 2-0.
Ellie Lefever scored what turned out to be the game's only goal four and a half minutes into the second quarter. She controlled the ball and midfield and dribbled to just inside the circle before firing a reverse into the top of the cage.
Hopkins had chances in the second half, outshooting Messiah, 6-2, and earning nine corners, but the Blue Jays could not find the equalizer.
Aubrey Kilgore finished with one save in three quarters of action for the Blue Jays. Anna Haberle had one save to earn the shutout for the Falcons.
Hopkins returns to action on Wednesday, September 9 as the Blue Jays host the 14
th-ranked Rowan Profs. Game time at Homewood Field is slated for 6:00 pm.
