Ellis, Ghanem Lead Johns Hopkins Past Lebanon Valley, 2-0

ANNVILLE, PA – Dylan Ellis scored twice and John Ghanem made three saves to lead Johns Hopkins to a 2-0 win at Lebanon Valley Wednesday night in non-conference action. The Blue Jays improve to 2-1-1 while the Dutchmen slip to 2-1-0.

Ellis, seeing his first action in the Hopkins Blue & Black, got his first goal with just 28 seconds left in the first half. With four defenders around him, he fired a shot from the left corner of the six-yard box, that deflected off the right post and in.

The Blue Jays doubled their lead in the 79th minute on a quick counterattack. Rohan Aggarwal intercepted a Lebanon Valley pass deep in JHU's end and carried the ball up field. About 25 yards from goal, Aggarwal slipped a pass through the defense to Ellis, who one-timed a right-footed shot past Ryan Simonette.

Ghanem earned his first shutout of the season with the three saves. Isaac Yerger started and played the first half and finished with three saves, while Simonette came on at the half and notched one save.

Hopkins returns to action on Saturday, September 12 at Rutgers-Newark. Game time is scheduled for 2:00 pm.
