Unofficial Visits to Hopkins
A prospective student-athlete may visit Hopkins at their own expense an unlimited number of times. In Division III sports these visits can occur at an time, while in Division I men’s and women’s lacrosse the first opportunity to take an unofficial visit with athletics department involvement is September 1st of the prospects junior year in high school. Hopkins coaches must document the details of a prospective student-athletes’ unofficial visit to Johns Hopkins via ARMS prior to visit taking place.
Official Visits to Hopkins
Hopkins may only provide one official visit to its campus for a prospective student-athlete and Division I prospective student-athletes are limited to five total official visits during their recruitment. For Division III sports, the first opportunity to take an official visit is January 1 of the prospect’s junior year of high school, while in Division I lacrosse PSA’s are allowed to take an official visit as of September 1 of the prospect’s junior year. The length of an official visit is not to exceed 48 hours beginning with the time the PSA arrives on campus. A prospective student-athlete on an official visit shall be provided lodging and take meals as regular students normally do. Local commercial facilities may be used but at a scale comparable to that of normal student life and only within a 30-mile radius of the institution's campus.
Hopkins coaches must document the details of a prospective student-athletes’ official visit and request approval from their sport administrator and the compliance office on ARMS prior the an official visit taking place. For Division I PSA’s, you must register with the NCAA Eligibility Center, provide Hopkins Athletics with your high school transcripts, and be placed on Hopkins’ IRL list with the NCAA Eligibility Center prior to your official visit being approved.
