Biography

2006: Played and started all 23 games • finished third on the team with 30 points, tied for second with 12 goals and third with six assists • ranked seventh in the Centennial in points per game (1.30), ninth in goals per game (0.52) and tied for 10th in assists per game (0.26) • scored in back-to-back games against Cortland and Frostburg • scored in back-to-back games against #3 The College of New Jersey and College of Notre Dame • tallied her first assist of the season against Washington & Lee • scored just 1:58 into game against #18 Gettysburg • picked up her second assist in win against Haverford • scored her first career hat trick in come-from-behind win at Washington College • in next game, against Bryn Mawr, scored the game-winning goal and tallied three assists • earned Centennial Conference Player of the Week honors for her effort against Washington and Bryn Mawr • scored for the third consecutive game, a come-from-behind effort against McDaniel • scored a goal and tallied two assists in win over McDaniel in Centennial Conference semifinals • scored in win over Wesley in ECAC Mid-Atlantic quarterfinals.

2005: Played and started 17 games • missed two games with an injury • finished tied for fourth on the team in goals (five) and fifth in points (12) • scored two goals in season-opening win at Mary Washington • had one goal and one assist in win over St. Mary[apos]s • also scored goals against William Smith and Salisbury • recorded her second assist against Franklin & Marshall in the Centennial Conference tournament.

2004: Played 12 games and started three • scored two goals off seven shots • scored first goal in second career game, a 4-3 loss to Cortland State • earned first start and scored one goal in 5-2 loss to St. Mary[apos]s • also started against Kean and Swarthmore.

Bender • born May 14, 1985 • daughter of John and Barbara Bender • captain and most valuable player of high school field hockey and lacrosse teams as a senior • class secretary at Tabor Academy • member of Phi Mu sorority • co-leader of Johns Hopkins[apos] mentoring program with Hamilton School • sister, Laura, was a second-team NFHCA All-America field hockey player at Wellesley • Dean[apos]s List student with a double major in sociology and Latin American studies.
